Ottawa Photography FAQ

Everything You May Be Wondering

Ottawa Photography FAQ covers the questions I’m asked most often about booking, payments, planning, weddings, mini sessions, photo delivery, and image use. My goal is to make the photography experience clear and straightforward before you book.

For complete booking policies, please review my Terms & Conditions. If your question isn’t answered in this Ottawa Photography FAQ, you’re always welcome to get in touch.

Booking & Payment

How do I book a photography session?

You can check available dates and book through my online booking calendar. For weddings, you can also send an inquiry first if you would like to discuss your plans, locations, or the amount of coverage you may need before booking.

Is a retainer required?

Yes. A 50% non-refundable retainer is required to secure your booking.

For Standard Sessions and Mini Sessions, the retainer is due within 24 hours of booking. The remaining balance is due on the day of the session.

For weddings, your date is officially reserved once the required booking documents are completed and the 50% retainer has been received.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payment is normally made by e-Transfer to tche.noir@gmail.com.

Cash may be accepted when agreed upon in advance. Any other payment method must also be confirmed in advance.

Are taxes included in the listed prices?

Unless a specific offer says otherwise, prices are listed in Canadian dollars before tax and applicable 13% HST is added to the total.

Planning Your Session

Do you help with posing?

Absolutely.

Most people are not used to being photographed, so you are not expected to know how to pose. I provide simple guidance with posture, hands, movement, and positioning while leaving enough space for genuine interaction.

The goal is to create photographs that feel polished without looking stiff or forced.

Can you help me choose what to wear?

Yes. I can help you plan outfits based on the type of session, location, season, and overall look you want for your photographs.

For selected sessions, I also provide more detailed outfit guidance before the shoot.

Can I request a specific location or photography idea?

Yes. Please share any important locations, poses, outfits, family combinations, or creative ideas in advance whenever possible.

I’m happy to incorporate requests that work with the location, available time, lighting, and structure of the session.

What happens if I am late?

Please arrive on time.

If you arrive late, your session may be shortened because another booking or commitment may follow. Additional time or rescheduling due to lateness cannot be guaranteed.

What happens if the weather is bad?

For outdoor sessions, we’ll look at the forecast and decide on the most practical option. Depending on the session, this may mean adjusting the timing, using a covered or indoor location, or rescheduling.

Mini Sessions may have a specific rain date, so the rules listed in that particular offer will apply.

For weddings, I plan flexible photography options around the venue and timeline so we can adapt if the weather changes.

Can I bring my pet?

Pets can often be included, depending on the location and type of session. Please let me know in advance so I can make sure the location is suitable.

Specific studio or Mini Session offers may have their own pet restrictions.

Using & Sharing Your Photos

Can I print and share my photographs?

Yes.

Your delivered photographs are licensed for personal use, which includes personal printing, sharing with family and friends, displaying them at home, and sharing them on your personal social media accounts.

Copyright remains with Tatiana Che Photography.

Can I use the photographs commercially?

Commercial use, advertising, resale, licensing, or other business use requires separate written permission.

Please contact me if you need photographs for commercial purposes.

Will you share my photographs online?

Selected photographs may be used in my portfolio, website, social media, advertising, or other promotional materials.

If you do not want your photographs used publicly, simply let me know in writing. Choosing not to allow promotional use will not affect your ability to book or receive photography services.

Travel & Other Questions

Do you travel outside Ottawa and Gatineau?

Yes.

I photograph sessions and weddings outside Ottawa and Gatineau as well. Additional travel costs may apply depending on the location, distance, schedule, and whether accommodation or other travel arrangements are required.

Any applicable travel costs will be discussed before booking.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes. Gift certificates are available for photography sessions. Contact me and I’ll help you choose the appropriate option.

Where can I read the complete booking policies?

You can review the full Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy on the website.

The FAQ is intended to make the most common questions easier to understand, while the full Terms & Conditions govern your booking.

Rescheduling & Cancellations

Can I reschedule a regular photography session?

Yes. For a Standard Session, the retainer may be transferred to one new available date within three months of the original session date, subject to availability.

If the original session cannot take place, the retainer may also be applied toward another photography service of equal or greater value within that period. Any difference in price would need to be paid.

What happens if I reschedule or cancel my wedding?

Wedding retainers are non-refundable because the date has been reserved specifically for you.

If your wedding is rescheduled, the retainer may be transferred to the new wedding date if I am available. A new date may be subject to current pricing if it falls within a different year or pricing period.

Can Mini Sessions be rescheduled?

Mini Sessions have different rules from regular sessions.

They are generally non-refundable and non-transferable, except where the specific Mini Session offer states otherwise or when I reschedule the session.

If a rain or backup date is included in the offer, that date becomes the designated rescheduling option.

What happens if you have to cancel?

If I am unable to provide the agreed photography service and we cannot arrange a mutually acceptable alternative date, payments received for the affected service will be refunded.

Photos & Delivery

How long does it take to receive the photographs?

Typical delivery times are:

  • Mini Sessions: within 2 weeks
  • Standard Sessions: within 2 weeks
  • Event Photography: within 2 weeks
  • Weddings: full edited gallery within up to 2 months

Wedding clients also receive a selection of sneak peeks within 24–48 hours after the wedding.

How will I receive my photographs?

Your final photographs are delivered through a private online gallery where you can view and download your images.

For Standard Sessions and Mini Sessions that include a specific number of photographs, you may receive a proofing gallery from which you select the photographs included in your package.

For weddings and events, I select and curate the final photographs that best tell the story of the day.

How many photographs will I receive?

The number of final edited photographs depends on the collection or package you choose.

Your booking details will clearly state what is included before you reserve the session.

Do you provide RAW or unedited photographs?

No.

RAW and unedited files are not delivered. I carefully select and professionally edit the final photographs so the gallery remains consistent with the style shown throughout my portfolio.

Online galleries remain active for three months from the delivery date.

Please download and safely back up your photographs during that period, as galleries and files may be removed afterward.

Can I request additional retouching?

Standard editing is included and may cover colour, exposure, lighting balance, cropping, and minor skin retouching.

More extensive requests — such as significant object removal, body reshaping, background replacement, or substantial retouching — may be available for an additional fee.

Weddings

How do we reserve our wedding date?

You can begin by sending a wedding inquiry or checking availability through the booking calendar.

Once we confirm the collection and details, your wedding date is officially reserved after the required agreement is completed and the 50% non-refundable retainer is received.

Do you help with the wedding photography timeline?

Yes.

Before the wedding, we’ll review the ceremony, locations, travel time, family photographs, portraits, reception events, and other important moments.

After booking, you’ll also receive a detailed questionnaire so we can refine the photography timeline together.

Is an engagement session included?

A complimentary engagement session is included with wedding collections of six hours or more.

Do you offer a second photographer?

Yes. A second photographer is available as an optional add-on and must be discussed and confirmed in advance.

It can be especially helpful when there are separate getting-ready locations, multiple venues, a larger celebration, a tight timeline, or important moments happening simultaneously.

Can we add more wedding photography time?

Additional wedding-day coverage may be available, subject to availability.

Current wedding coverage beyond the booked collection is charged at the applicable overtime rate. Additional time is billed in full-hour increments, so it is always better to discuss your timeline before the wedding when possible.
