Cameron and Patricia’s Strathmere wedding brought together two very different Ottawa settings — the quiet countryside atmosphere of Strathmere and their church ceremony at St. Elias.
The day moved between getting ready, travel, family, portraits, speeches, and an evening celebration filled with emotion and energy.
What stood out most was how closely connected everything felt to the people around them. Their families and friends were present in every part of the day, making the wedding feel personal, lively, and genuinely their own.
Getting Ready at Strathmere
The wedding day began at Strathmere, where Patricia got ready before everyone travelled into Ottawa for the ceremony.
Starting the photography coverage here gave us time to document the beginning of the day before the schedule became busier with travel, the ceremony, family photographs, and the reception.
On wedding days that move between several locations, these quieter parts of the morning create a natural beginning to the story before everything starts moving more quickly.
A Wedding Ceremony at St. Elias
After getting ready, the day continued at St. Elias in Ottawa, where Cameron and Patricia celebrated their ceremony surrounded by family and friends.
The ceremony was one of the more formal parts of the day, but the reactions around Cameron and Patricia made it feel deeply personal. I focused not only on the main moments between the couple, but also on their families and guests — the expressions, glances, and small reactions happening around them.
Those moments became an important part of the story, especially because family remained such a strong presence throughout the entire wedding day.

Back to Strathmere for Portraits
After the ceremony, we returned to Strathmere for family photographs and portraits of Cameron and Patricia.
One of the advantages of photographing a wedding here is that several portrait locations are close to the reception spaces. We could move between photographs without taking the couple away from their guests for a long period of time.
That flexibility becomes especially useful on a full wedding day, when travel and small shifts in the timeline can easily take more time than expected.
Dinner & Heartfelt Speeches
The room felt intimate and comfortable, with the guest tables arranged in two long rows and the couple’s table positioned between them.
The layout suited the atmosphere of the wedding perfectly — everyone felt close to Cameron and Patricia and part of what was happening.
Dinner was followed by a long series of heartfelt speeches from family and friends. There was even a recorded message played from a phone from someone who could not be there in person.
Their MC, a close family member, kept the evening moving while still allowing every speech to feel personal rather than overly formal.
Patricia became emotional during almost every toast, creating some of my favourite candid moments from the reception — not only of her and Cameron, but also of their families and guests reacting alongside them.
Sparklers & Evening Celebration
Later in the evening, Cameron and Patricia invited everyone outside for sparklers.
We created a few portraits of the couple surrounded by their friends and family as the sparklers lit up around them, before everyone headed back inside for dancing.
By then, the formal part of the day had come to an end. The rest of the evening was simply about being together, dancing, and celebrating — a fitting finish to a wedding that had felt warm and family-centred from the beginning.
Photographing a Strathmere Wedding Day
Cameron and Patricia’s wedding day moved through several different settings: getting ready at Strathmere, their ceremony at St. Elias, travel between locations, family photographs, portraits, dinner, speeches, sparklers, and the beginning of the evening celebration.
Days like this are a good example of how much can happen between the major moments on a wedding timeline. Travel takes time, schedules shift slightly, conversations last longer than expected, and some of the most meaningful photographs happen in between the planned events.
For couples planning a Strathmere wedding, having enough photography coverage can make it much easier to move between the different parts of the day without rushing portraits, family photographs, or the reception.
Multiple Locations Need Breathing Room

Portrait Locations Are Close to the Reception
Strathmere made the portrait portion of the day especially easy.
Several outdoor locations are only a short walk from the reception spaces, so Cameron and Patricia could step away for photographs and return to their guests without disappearing for a long period of time.
For couples who want variety in their wedding photographs without spending a large part of the reception travelling, that is a practical advantage.
Leave Time for the Unplanned Moments
Not every meaningful photograph comes from something written into the wedding timeline.
Some of the strongest moments from Cameron and Patricia’s day happened during speeches, conversations, reactions from family, and the transitions between the larger events.
A timeline with enough breathing room gives those moments space to happen naturally rather than turning the wedding day into a sequence of rushed photographs.
